Nissan recently raised the curtain on its latest venture into the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the Ariya Nismo, an improved version based on the Ariya e-4orce SUV. The latest addition to Nissan’s Nismo series, the Ariya Nismo combines the latest EV technology and performance upgrades.
Nissan introduced Ariya Nismo: High-performance electric car
Ariya Nismo, which is planned to be offered for sale with two hardware options, comes with B6 and B9 models that differ in terms of battery capacities. While the B6 model has a 66kWh battery, the B9 goes one level up with a larger 91kWh version.
In true Nismo style, this electric vehicle promises a power boost over its standard Ariya counterparts. While the B6 model has 362 horsepower and 559.95 N.m of torque, the B9 comes with an impressive 429 horsepower and 600 N.m of torque. However, it is worth noting that these figures may be subject to some adjustments before the electric SUV officially hits the roads.
A special riding mode has been added to the Ariya Nismo, aiming to maximize the overall driving experience. The combination of Nismo’s advancements, e-4orce four-wheel control technology and tires on rigid 20-inch aluminum wheels is expected to deliver superior stability at high speeds, precise turning ability and improved cornering capabilities.
The Nismo team has also added an optional Formula E-inspired sound system to the Ariya Nismo. Nissan claims that this feature, combined with the premium feel of the cabin, which includes specially designed Nismo seats and upholstery, enhances the overall driving experience.
This isn’t Nissan’s Nismo team’s first foray into the electric vehicle world. They introduced the Leaf Nismo RC concept at the New York Auto Show in 2011, and the second generation model went into production in Japan in 2018.
